Federal and state fair housing laws were put into effect to create an even playing field for homebuyers in all arenas of a real estate transaction. These laws prohibit discrimination based on race, color religion, sex, familial status, and national origin.

BestBSUrentals property owners and managers are subject to the federal Fair Housing Act, which prohibits “any preference, limitation, or discrimination because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin, or intention to make such preference, limitation or discrimination.”
